いらっしゃいませ!A Mister Donuts Collection & Existential Journey through Japan

Do donuts dream of dough sheep?

“[life], it’s like donut holes. Whether you take the donut hole as blank space or as

an entity unto itself is a purely metaphysical question and does not affect the taste of the donut one bit.”

-Haruki Murakami A Wild Sheep Chase (translation by Alfred Birnbaum)

I love Mister Donuts. (and existential philosophy). (and living in Japan).

So, what is this site about?

Well, I guess it’s a little bit of all three mentioned above.

In essence,  it is my attempt at documenting every single Mister Donuts I have ever been to in Japan- along with a random contemplation or thought which manifests itself while I am sitting there.

I’m a foreigner living and working in Japan. Sometimes it’s fun and sometimes it’s hectic/stressful. But I always have found myself strangely facinated/drawn to Mister Donut. I don’t know what the possible underlining implications of my obsession with Mister Donut is- but here is my attempt to explore and document my adventures throughout Japan and with Mister Donut!

未来の夢~ My ultimate goal is to eventually go to every single Mister Donut within Japan. There are apparently over 1,300 locations within Japan alone- with that number increasing every year.

Check out https://existentialdonuts.wordpress.com/all-locations/ for all the locations I’ve visited so far.
